As a former collegiate athlete, I particularly love to help active individuals maximize their fullest athletic potential. I help my patients understand how to prevent common sports injuries, while improving strength, power, endurance, flexibility, and performance.

My mission is to get you back to your sport as quickly and safely as possible. I will customize a sport-specific program to help you eliminate your restrictions and achieve your athletic goals. You will jump higher, kick harder, throw farther and run faster than you did before the injury.

What is Sports Rehabilitation?

Sports Rehabilitation is the restoration of optimal form and function so you may safely return to your sport without pain or restriction, functioning at the same level, or better, than before the injury.

The Evidence Base for Sport Rehabilitation Practice

Sport Rehabilitation is based on several hundred thousand research papers across the fields of medicine, rehabilitation, sports science, and more.

What might my treatment include?

Treatment could include exercise rehabilitation, manual therapy, massage, taping, bracing, and electrotherapy, with the plan being monitored and modified where needed.  Rehabilitation should start as early as possible after an injury and form a continuum with other therapeutic interventions.

The 6 Stages of Sports Injury Rehabilitation

The stages of sports injury rehabilitation are guided by the natural healing process of damaged tissues.

Phase 1. Protection and Offloading
Phase 2. Protected Reloading and Reconditioning

Phase 3. Sport Specific Strength, Conditioning and Skills
Phase 4. Return to Sport
Phase 5. Injury Prevention
Phase 6. Monitoring

The 6 Fundamental Components of Sports Rehabilitation Programs:

Pain Management
Flexibility and Joint Range of Motion
Strength and Endurance
Proprioception (Body Awareness)
Functional Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation after a sports-related injury must be performed by an expert.  With 20 years of experience in treating orthopedic and sports injuries, I will get you back in action as quickly and safely as possible, performing at a higher level than before the injury.
